The Living Temple Project was conceived to remind the world and you that YOU are a Living Temple: a Living Temple of Knowledge, of Wisdom, of Love, of Peace and of Joy and Inspiration.
When you rediscover this truth and reactivate yourself as the Living Temple you are, you can share your unique genius with the world.
The Living Temple Project also invites people from different cultures and spiritual traditions to offer blessings, prayers and rituals for healing, reconciliation and world peace.
For the project Megan created 33 Sacred Robes representing 33 spiritual qualities such as Passion, Breakthrough, Peace and Knowledge (as pictured above).
Megan and her team travel to sacred sites and temples inviting people to wear a robe and give a blessing to the world from their own spiritual tradition. This is being documented with photographs and videos.
When a person wears the sacred robe at a sacred site and offers a sacred blessing to the world, they embody their Living Temple to inspire world peace, interfaith dialogue, compassion and joy.

When did the Living Temple Project begin?
In 1999 I began designing and creating Sacred Robes for meditation, ritual and contemplation. It began as a small project of 7 robes which I made to convey our common human story of the soul’s journey of awakening through 7 stages of life.
Similar to Joseph Campbell’s “Hero’s Journey”, I wanted to tell the story of our heroic journey through life with the help of robes that people could put on and literally “try on a new possibility” for their life.
Then, in 2012, that small project became a larger project to create 33 robes to complete what I now call the Living Temple Project.
When people get into the robes they actually become their own Living Temple.
They step in to a more expanded version of themselves. They get involved in their own story-making so they can become the storyteller or author of their own life.
Sacred robes have been important for thousands of years and in many different spiritual traditions.
They are used for meditation, ceremony, ritual and personal transformation.
When someone steps into the Compassion Robe for example they intentionally choose to try on the quality of Compassion. This sincere intention gives them access to the storehouse of spiritual compassion and they receive the benefit of the compassionate energy held within he robe itself.
Each robe is a key, a door, an access point to that particular spiritual quality. Once you have opened the door, you can access spiritual compassion and utilize that energy for your own spiritual evolution.
Sacred Robes as a Living Temple
For centuries, people have been creating sacred art in every medium imaginable – stone, wood, metal, paint, cloth – to help people connect with their soul and spirit. As I searched for a creative medium to teach the journey of Initiation, I had a vision to create a series of sacred robes that would tell the story of the archetypal initiation path.
I was sitting with a friend in a small London cafe when the vision unfolded before my eyes.
I saw a round Temple made of beautiful rich black cloth. Around the outside of the Temple were archetypal figures, depicting the journey of the soul’s awakening and return to the divine source.
These figures came alive on a series of robes circling around the Temple so that when you walked around the entire structure, you could travel the entire journey and remember your true purpose and destiny.
I understood this to be the Living Temple, a universal symbol of our human journey through life.
I was then inspired to recreate this Living Temple by designing and creating the Sacred Robes and composing a performance piece of the Soul’s journey with the Robes, music, drumming and dance.
